Toronto's notorious singing bartender, trumpeting cyclist, public space activist swingpunk shows his intimate storyteller side with this solo recording. Gone is the angry vitriol of The New Kings, and sidelined is the balkan trumpeting of Lemon Bucket Orkestra, and raucous improvisation of Rambunctious. With these 8 original tunes we get the quiet, 4 o'clock in the morning, "let's roll one more" MLJ. Most of these songs Michael has been performing for years with his band Red Rhythm at their legendary Saturday Matinees at the Communist's Daughter. While touring Canada's folk festivals with Lemon Bucket Orkestra, Michael being Michael, he would find himself sitting around a fire with some of the country's finest songwriters and when the guitar was passed to him, his songs were well received, so, maybe it's time they were recorded. Fate brought his old friend Noah Mintz into the Commie (where Michael bartends) and he offered to do the recording at his mastering studio, Lacquer Channel, the album is mostly just Michael singing his songs, playing his guitar, with guest appearances by a few Lemons here and there, and special appearances by drumming legend Great Bob Scott.

He leads the ArtSpin, playing trumpet while riding his bicycle, is creator of popular vinyl night, D-cide on the B-side.
